Professor Henry Mintzberg is an internationally renowned academic and author on business and management who writes prolifically on the topics of management and business strategy, with more than 150 articles and fifteen books to his name. He is ranked nine on the "Top 20 Business Thinkers" list of the Wall Street Journal and 16 on the Financial Times' "The Thinkers 50" list.

His latest book “Managing” (Berrett-Koehler Publishers, 2009), is based on information developed from spending a day each with 29 managers in a variety of fields. Observing, interviewing, and reviewing the managers' diaries, the author shares what he learned from his research--what happened in each manager's day--and then interprets why it happened. The twenty nine pictures of management as practiced in various industries and organizations illustrate the varied realities of managing. Mintzberg concludes: "To be effective in any managerial position, there is a need for thoughtfulness--not dogma, not greed risen to some high art, not fashionable technique, not "me too" strategies, not all that `leadership' hype, just plain old judgment." Book reviewer Mary Whaley (the Booklist) recommends: “This is an excellent, must-read book for managers and aspiring managers.” (Sep 2009).

OCD management consultants have been consistently applying Henry Mintzberg’s concepts especially his organizational configurations framework in their consulting work with Vietnamese companies and organizations. We have the honor and privilege to sponsor the translation and publication of “Managing” in the Vietnamese language, just some month after the original came out of press in English. Published by Alpha Books (www.alphabooks.vn), the Vietnamese version of “Managing” will be available in the first quarter of 2010 in BizSPACE – Alphabooks’ own bookstore located at 164B Doi Can Street, Hanoi, as well as in major bookstores nationwide.
